Born in a small town in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, Cecil started cooking. While his single mother worked at Coronation market in Jamaica, Cecil was left at home to man the house and cook for his mother and siblings. At the age of 21, Cecil got his first cooking job in Kingston and later worked for a Chinese woman named Ms. Chung.
While working for Ms. Chung for some 20+ years, Cecil learnt the art of cooking Chinese food. Cecil arrived in Grand Cayman in the late 1990’s and worked as a chef in a number of small, local restaurants. During this period, under the guide of a well known East End cook, Cecil learnt to cook authentic Caymanian cuisine including Stewed Conch, Turtle, and Salt Beef run down to name a few. He joined Taste Buds Restaurant in 2010 and, after a brief break, returned in October 2011.1, Cecil got his first cooking job in Kingston and later worked for a Chinese woman named Ms. Chung.
Cecil has established himself as simply one of the best local chefs on Island and Taste Buds Restaurant is delighted to have him on board.
